Find the hosts file

Folder where this file is located

Editing

  1. Right-click the file
  2. Click "Properties"
  3. Security tab
  4. Click "Change"
  5. Tick the 'Allow' checkboxes, then click OK and save
  1. Then open the hosts file with Notepad
  2. Add this line to the end

Should look something like this:

Check

Verify that everything worked and the client no longer lags

  1. Open the 6.84 game client
  2. Today tab
  3. If instead of a web page you get a blank error page-105 / -107 / -108 - Everything is set up correctly and performance should improve.

How to revert everything

If you need to visit dota2.com or, for other reasons, want to revert to how it was:

  1. Then open the hosts file with Notepad
  2. Remove the line "0.0.0.0 www.dota2.com"
  3. Save the file
  4. The site is now available again.
