Eliminate major lag on a good PC
Fix bug in the 6.84 client — the main Dota 2 site inside the game hogs the CPU
Find the hosts file
Folder where this file is located
Editing
- Right-click the file
- Click "Properties"
- Security tab
- Click "Change"
- Tick the 'Allow' checkboxes, then click OK and save

- Then open the hosts file with Notepad
- Add this line to the end
Should look something like this:

Check
Verify that everything worked and the client no longer lags
- Open the 6.84 game client
- Today tab
- If instead of a web page you get a blank error page-105 / -107 / -108 - Everything is set up correctly and performance should improve.
How to revert everything
If you need to visit dota2.com or, for other reasons, want to revert to how it was:
- Then open the hosts file with Notepad
- Remove the line "0.0.0.0 www.dota2.com"
- Save the file
- The site is now available again.
