Which game version is used?
We are playing on version 6.84c. This is the latest game version on Source 1, as well as the most popular patch by player count.
Is it safe?
The client was downloaded directly from official Steam depots, so it is fully authentic. The servers run on Valve's official tool — srcds.exe, as expected. Therefore bans are not possible. For site authentication, a secure Steam service using the OpenID protocol is used — it does not transmit login, password, or other personal data. This method has long been used on many third-party resources.
Can I play with a ban in Dota?
Bans from the current Dota version do not apply to this client — they are not transferred here. But if you regularly leave games, spoil matches for others, or behave in a clearly toxic manner, you may receive a ban here. We monitor order and do not turn a blind eye.
How to open the console?
Bind it in the control settings and run the game via a batch file (the -console parameter is specified there)
My game settings reset / quick casts aren't working
Disable Steam Cloud (for modern Dota and globally on Steam) and do not agree to synchronization. On the path Dota 6.84\dota\cfg in config.cfg file properties uncheck Read-only if present.

I can't connect to the game server
- Make sure the accounts on the site and Steam match.
- Log back into your account.
- Try connecting a few times.
- If you are from Ukraine or the previous methods did not help, try using tools to bypass ISP blocks.
- If you're already using it, try disabling it.
- Redownload and re-pack the client using 7-zip.
I get the new Dota opening, not the old one
Before connecting to the server, open the old client first. Enter the data from the table about the accepted game (format: connect ip) into the console and press Enter.
Only one Dota 2 client per customer
Close the new or old Dota client if it's already running (kill the process via Task Manager). Only one Dota client can be running at the same time.
dota.exe not found
You need to add 'cd ' at the start of the .bat file using Notepad.C:\Program Files (x86)\Dota 6.84 (replace with the path to the old Dota client)
The game isn't launching, what should I do?
Most likely you're missing something. Possible solutions:
- You haven't extracted the game archive and are trying to run the game from the archive. Extract the archive using 7-zip and run the game.
- Try clearing Steam's download cache or switching the account before launching the old client.
- Install DirectX
- Install Microsoft Visual C++ for 32-bit
- Install Microsoft Visual C++ for 64-bit
- Install .NET Framework
Steam client is missing or out of date
One of the options below will help fix this issue:
- Log in to Steam
- Restart Steam
- Restart PC
- Turn off Invisible mode in Steam
- Run DOTA Classic and Steam as administrator
dota launcher DLL failed to load / Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'dota2'
The game archive may not have extracted completely. We strongly recommend using 7-zip to extract.To fix it you need to avoid Russian/Cyrillic letters in the path or unpack the archive to the desktop. If that doesn't help, unpack the game archive to the root of drive C: or D:
Graphics / Audio artifacts
You can try:
gl_clear 0
- Reinstall the video driver, or install a newer version
- Run snd_restart in Windows command prompt or reinstall the audio driver
- Disable all additional graphics options in the game settings
- Switch from integrated to discrete graphics card
- IF THE PREVIOUS DOES NOT HELP: enter commands one by one (checking the result after each command):

- Use startup parameters in the bat file to set: -dxlevel 80, 81, 90, 95, 98 or -gl
Is there a way to enable stopping abilities with a separate key (for example, rearm on Tinker)?
No, there is no such feature.
Is there a way to bind any function to the mouse wheel or remap camera movement?
No, there is no such option.
Can I enable "smart attack"?
No, there is no such feature.
Is it possible to create a separate 5x5 lobby with the ability to choose mode and other parameters?
Yes, this feature is available with a subscription dotaclassic plus or by agreement with the administration.

How to view a replay?
On the page of the past match, click the "Download Replay" button. You will be redirected to a page with a detailed guide on how to view this replay, for example, Match 33630
